One of the things that kept me going while I was miserable in school was Teen Titans Go! I had a small interest in the cartoon for a few months, but watching a dollar showing of Teen Titans Go! to the Movies was just what I needed during a particularly nasty weekend of schoolwork. I don’t think I’ve had that much fun at a movie in quite some time.
I’ve been spending quite a bit of time recently catching up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It’s hilarious. I wouldn’t say it’s on the same level as 30 Rock, but it’s pretty close. Here are some funny moments for reference:
I was browsing Instagram last weekend and came across a post about a new series on the Sundance channel called Deutschland 83. I don’t have the Sundance channel, so I had to buy the season pass on amazon, which after watching a couple of episodes, I do not regret at all.
“A gripping coming-of-age story and spy thriller set in Germany in the ‘80s.”
So far, it’s been a great series. The spy stuff is cool and annoyingly tense (in a good way). I would have gone crazy bonkers for this a few years ago when I was super into the Cold War-era Berlin. The season is still going on, so I’m trying to pace myself with the episodes that are currently out.
I’ve fallen out of interest with Germany over the last year or so, but Deutschland 83 has managed to spark that interest once again. I hope it can kickstart me back into that world again, as K and I prepare to go back to Munich next year.
And here it is! The first full reveal of the Flash for the new television series. I love it. I’d like to see it in broad daylight, but I don’t think I could be happier at this point. It looks like they threw in a fairly good mix of elements from his various incarnations, like the piping from the New 52 version, as well as a little here and there from his Injustice look. I’m pretty stoked, and really relieved.
I’ve been catching up on Arrow, which is a show on the CW that’s based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. It’s pretty good, though there’s way too much personal drama thrown in. That’s pretty characteristic of TV shows these days though.
In the second season, which I haven’t seen any of yet, they introduce Barry Allen, aka The Flash! I’m especially intrigued by this, because Allen’s introduction is the impetus for a new Flash spin-off series. You’ll remember there was a Flash series in the 90s, which was actually decent for the time.
Now we’re getting a new Flash series, and I’m pretty excited. This image was published earlier today. My initial thoughts? I like it, though I’m cautiously optimistic. I have an issue with his neck. It appears there’s some sort of collar going on, which would lead me to suspect he’s wearing a jacket. I’m going to be pretty disappointed if he’s wearing what amounts to working gear, as opposed to a suit of some kind. Given the way most characters have been treated on both big and small screen over the last several years (Captain America, X-Men), there’s a pretty good chance he will be wearing something exactly like this, so I should just get the disappointment out now.
